Kristen McKivor

Copywriter/Translator (German to English)

My purpose as a copywriter is to marry creativity with clarity. In my last full-time position at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia in New York City, I was the lead copywriter for the crafts department (among others), and in the time I worked there our sales increased dramatically, due to clever advertising campaigns and the smart, clear way we explained new products to consumers. I am very proud to have been a part of such satisfying work.

I have significant web-based work experience, as I helped Martha Stewart Living expand its online presence. I was responsible for writing web advertising, writing scripts for web videos, providing product descriptions on our portal site, and even occasionally ghostwriting blogs.

I am a person who comes to the table with many creative ideas, as I often have at both Macy’s and Martha Stewart Living when invited to special meetings about advertising and branding strategies.

Having been an ESL teacher (also a profession of words) and having lived in four different countries, I also possess keen cultural sensitivity and the ability to communicate clearly with a range of different people. I can turn even the most incomprehensible English sentence into something not only clear, but also elegant.
