ABOUT US
Why CSCP?
The ways in which products and services are delivered to our doors have become increasingly complex and global. Actions taken by designers, producers and consumers are all interlinked and can affect each other, and the global environment, in far-reaching ways. For instance, decisions taken by producers about the design of a product may have repercussions for the consumer in terms of the negative environmental effects that result from the use of the product. In the same way, decisions taken by consumers located on one side of the world might influence producers and communities on the other side. The challenge is to manage these interdependencies in a way that advances human development without causing harm to the environment. The CSCP was established in order to meet this challenge.
VALUES AND BELIEFS FOR BETTER LIVING
Capacity building for a better future:
Systems thinking and scaling-up sustainable innovations are skills all change actors urgently need in radically improving our economy‘s physical structures and societal value systems to make them resilient for the future. The CSCP gathers the latest lessons learned and creates capacity building programmes for civil society organisations, businesses and policymakers to gain an insight into these processes.
Establishing new infrastructures to support sustainable innovations:
The CSCP works on conceptualising and visualising the future physical, social and virtual infrastructure we need for achieving sustainable ways of living.
Encouraging bottom-up participative models for sustainable innovation:
At the CSCP we encourage and support cross-pollination and provide the necessary coordination required by bringing together civil societies, governments, business and retailers to facilitate change. We identify and encourage collaboration and strategic alliances to move these stakeholders in the same direction and leverage faster change.
APPROACHES TO FOSTER BETTER LIVING
Promoting multi stakeholder engagement:
The CSCP brings together all stakeholders and facilitates creative dialogues in the process of designing sustainable practices. We assist policymakers, civil society organisations, retailers and businesses alike in sharing knowledge, understanding the latest trends and the implications for them, so that they can be instrumental in accelerating the shift towards a sustainable society. Participation for all is at the heart of our approach.
Developing tools and instruments based on research outcomes:
The CSCP uses the latestscientific papers, technological developments and global trend monitoring to identify, develop and improve key sustainability methodologies and tools that foster development, tackle climate change and encourage innovation.
Advancing communication and dissemination:
We provide platforms, including organising interactive, meaningful and fruitful events for establishing a relationship of trust and dialogue between stakeholders. We support the integration of environmental, social, economic and cultural concerns into decision-making and provide a space for sharing common challenges and creating impactful solutions.
