The first thing I love to do with a new workstation is to surround it with colour, meaning and feelings. I’m talking art, cartoons and inspiring text. Roll these values into a ball and you get me, a UX Designer with a background in creative project management. Working in a team or managing creative consultants I’ve helped my clients deliver multi-channel brand strategies and marketing communication campaigns.
User-centered design is about identifying and problem solving our user’s needs. By converting emotional research into systematic building blocks I write user stories, create process mapping and build prototypes. I measure my success by end-user satisfaction and your improved business metrics. I’m interested in all types of end-to-end UX design projects and in particular research and writing. In time I’d like to work on merging my UXD and management skills together to lead my own team of creatives and developers.
Whether working with designers, developers or stakeholders my approach to communication has always been the same – the best briefs get the best results. I’m the rare one who can tie up all the loose ends of your project, writing succinct project summaries that encourage growth, highlight learnings and recognise successes.
I bought my first Apple Mac in 1997 and worked through every page of the Photoshop manual. I have a huge thirst for new things, earning me a career path in multi-channel marketing communications that has been rich and varied. I love learning new things and you’ll often find me watching training videos about After Effects, Cinema 4D, Agile, Scrum and team management. I’ve been told that I’m the glue that gels a team together, bringing drive, empathy and an infectious energy to each day.
I’ve lived in Belgium for four years, Germany for six years and have a BA Hons Degree in English Creative Writing (with German C1). In 2017 I formed my own writing group, English Creative Writing, Frankfurt. I moderated a weekly group of writers, facilitated creative writing exercises, feedback sessions, brainstorming, workshops and reading events, encouraging members to cultivate their creative skills and share their writing. The group stands at 1,000+ members and has published two short story anthologies.
I’m an active member of Toastmasters International. My greatest achievement of 2019 was coming 2nd place in the European finals of their improvised speech competition.
